Just an hour away from London, this cool, quirky and creative town on the south coast of England is the tonic we need every few months when we’re due a detox from the stresses of city-life.
If you’re planning a weekend stay in Brighton then here’s a round-up of our favourites to take you from Friday drinks through to Sunday lunch.

Friday night
You’ve just arrived from the bustling metropolis you call home so let’s ease you into the Brighton vibe nice and smoothly.
Before you change out of your chic city attire, get yourself a designer cocktail at Merkaba; sexy and smart, it’s the heart of glam Brighton.
Top tip – order the My Tiki and be ready for a fire show on the bar!
Friday dinner
You’re dressed to kill and want to continue the sexy, sophisticated vibe you started at Merkaba.
Fit to rival London’s hottest restaurants, 64 Degrees serves innovative small-plate sharing dishes from their open kitchen with an industrial design.
Top tip – book ahead and ask for seats at the kitchen bar.
Sleep
You’re in Brighton, so let’s make this fun!
Located bang in the centre of the buzzing North Lane area of Brighton, the suites at My Brighton are next-level fantasy.
Want an antique carousel horse in your room? Done! Want a circular bed or a free-standing bathtub and separate steam room? They’ve got you covered!
We’ve stayed in plenty of hotels in Brighton over the years but nowhere hits us with that “You're in Brighton!” excitement as when we check-into My Brighton. It’s our favourite for a reason.
Even the hotel’s standard rooms are super fun and interesting. There’s no other hotel in town to give you that Brighton-buzz like My Brighton.
Top tip – book Heaven, Jade, Bamboo or Carousel and make it a weekend you’ll never forget!
Saturday Brunch
Do you like your Bloody Mary served a little bit extra with a pickle and piece of bacon for garnish? So do we!
With pancakes, waffles and fried chicken as well as all the old and new brunch classics, New Club serves a big hearty breakfast with floor-to-ceiling windows that look out towards the sea and the British Airways i360.
The outdoor terrace fills up quickly so if the sun is shining get here nice and early.
Top tip – book a ride on the i360 and have brunch at New Club beforehand.
Shopping
Factor-in a couple of hours on Saturday to explore the many independent shops scattered up and down the lanes of Brighton.
We’re always on the look-out for cool shirts (like Leo’s Panda shirt from Get Shorty) and unique 'objets' for our home.
Don’t omit to work your way along the seafront from i360 to the new pier and check out all the small indie shops and galleries along the way.
Top tip – Visit art republic and invest in some beautiful artwork for your home. Part of the affordable art scheme, you can purchase with 0% finance and no deposit.
Saturday lunch
OK so you’ve had your glam night last night, it’s time to step through the looking glass into the slightly grittier side of town. Don’t worry – you’re only passing through to reach some super hip finds.
Not surprisingly, for the more ‘adventurous’ part of town, you’ll pass Prowler on the way to our next stop so make sure you pop-in and check out the range by Tom Taylor (like Leo’s Pink Lemonade tee).
After Prowler, just a few more steps up the street and you’ll find Block. Their menu of small plates is great for sharing and their outdoor backyard terrace is a real sun-trap.
Top tip – try a craft beer – ask the bar staff what’s new and what’s good.
Cocktails
Now that you’ve warmed up with a post-lunch beer, it’s time to think cocktails. Here’s a quick selection for you to take a pick.
The Plotting Parlour – distressed antique furniture and a speakeasy vibe. Come for one and you’ll easily stay for more.
The Mesmerist – Salted Caramel Espresso Martini. You. Have. To try this! The bar staff here are too cute. One of our absolute favourite bars for a Brighton pit-stop.
Saturday night dinner
We only recently discovered Plateau but we’re already yearning for our next visit. The small 2-level restaurant is dimly lit and intimate. Think French favourites with a cool Brighton twist.
The meals are meat-heavy and full of indulgence. In fact, we skipped dessert in favour of a second serving of the chicken, it was so good!
Sunday
My Brighton plays host to the hip Small Batch Coffee shop so when you feel like rising on Sunday morning you can just roll straight in for your flat white or cortado.
Seriously good coffee.
After all that meat at Plateau, you’ll appreciate a Sunday breakfast at our favourite vegan/vegetarian joint, Wai Kika Moo Kau.
Nestled down the North Lanes bazaar, you’ll be perfectly placed to check out the independent shops and boutiques in this part of town if you didn’t make it up here on Saturday.
If you’re going to have Sunday lunch before packing up your things and heading home, we highly recommend something a little different.
As well as serving the best coffee in Brighton at Small Batch Coffee, My Brighton also hosts the fantastic Chilli Pickle restaurant where Sunday roast is served with a Indian influenced twist.
