My favourite, My Brighton.

I think we must’ve stayed at My Brighton every year for the last decade. We've often stayed more than once each year and whether we visit as a couple or with other family and friends, it’s always a pleasure. Anniversaries, partying or naughty weekends-away; My Brighton always suits our mood.

From the moment you walk through the colourful sliding doors of the foyer and step over the inlaid lights in the floor as your approach the silver, Kuntz-esque reception desk, you know you’re in a super-cool hotel unlike any other in Brighton.

We stayed in the Carousel suite, so named after the 300 year old antique Spanish carousel horse that stands regally in the middle of the room. Given the unreliability of the British weather, the beauty of staying in the carousel suite is the spacious steam-room-cum-shower which is perfect if you’re unlucky with the weather.

On this last visit however, the sun was shining every day and so we only took our steam to relax at the end of the day before sharing a soak in the big tub.

On previous occasions when we’ve stayed at My Brighton in the past (when it was known as My Hotel) our only gripe was that a stay in their most expensive carousel suite didn’t come with any complimentary goodies, not even a bottle of water which, considering the price tag, always seemed pretty mean. It seems the re-brand has addressed this and we really enjoyed the goodies made available in the room.

Talking of goodies – we have to give a huge thank you to the beautiful people at 210th who surprised us with their Pride Box of erotic toys and treats. Let’s just say this really got us in the mood and Saturday night go with a bang. Fantastic fun and what better way to enjoy them than in the decadent carousel suite!

Having said that, if your budget doesn’t stretch to one of My Brighton’s bigger suites or if you just want a room to get ready and then to sleep, the hotel has simple, well-equipped and stylish smaller rooms available too.

No stay at My Brighton is complete without a cocktail in their fantastic Merkaba bar. Make sure you pop-in before you head out for the night, or if you’re an early-bird, stop in for a nightcap before heading back to your room.

Before we checked-out and headed home after a thoroughly relaxing weekend we stopped in the Small Batch Coffee shop which adjoins My Brighton for the best flat whites in town. Although the staff baulked and screwed up their face when we asked about a cortada made condensed milk (it’s honestly a real thing – look up Cortado leche leche), everything they do here is done with natural ingredients and done to perfection.

My Brighton – thanks for a perfect stay. We’ll see you again soon!
